Mud (peat) is originated through the prolonged decomposition of plants by bacteria in warm and humid conditions. The peat springs are renowned for their exceptional quality, free from environmental contaminants.

The mud used at Vanadzor Armenia health resort is taken only from the studied peat reserves (applicable for therapeutic purposes) and undergoes processing under special conditions.

Mud is heated to 38-42°C, either rubbed all over the body (mud wraps) except for the heart and head area or applied locally (mud applications). Due to the temperature of the compresses, peloid procedures are accompanied by intense sweating. At the same time, the body gets rid of excess metabolic products, toxins.

Heat accelerates blood circulation and relieves pain, and the active components of the healing mud dissolved in water (humic acids, enzymes, estrogens and microelements) penetrate the skin deep into the body, affecting organs such as the ovaries and uterus.

The procedures are prescribed by the doctor, taking into account health condition of the patient/visitor. When choosing the peat temperature and duration of the procedure at the health resort, the stage of the disease, the severity of the pain syndrome, and the degree of vegetative-vascular symptoms are taken into account for each patient.
