The Vanadzor “Armenia” Hotel and Health Resort Complex is located in Vanadzor, Lori Province, 110 km north of Yerevan and 100 km from Zvartnots International Airport. The resort spans an 8-hectare area of beautifully landscaped greenery, offering an ideal setting for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The area is surrounded by lush forests, with playgrounds, rest areas, and walking paths throughout. The tranquil “Vanadzor” River flows through the territory, adding to the serene atmosphere. Nearby, you’ll find an artificial lake, a sports complex, a football stadium, and a church, providing additional opportunities for recreation and exploration.

The Vanadzor “Armenia” Health Resort offers comfortable single and double rooms in Luxury, Deluxe, Standard, and Economy classes. Guests can enjoy high-quality rest, delicious and freshly prepared cuisine, and specially designed health treatment programs. All rooms are equipped with heating systems and Wi-Fi. Additional amenities include a TV, refrigerator, kettle, hairdryer, and toiletries to ensure a comfortable stay.

The favorable natural landscape, the surrounding mountain ranges, abundant sunshine, oxygen-rich air, mineral water springs, and therapeutic peat contribute to Vanadzor’s reputation as a balneological (climatic and therapeutic) health resort.

During the Russian Empire, this picturesque location in Vanadzor attracted wealthy individuals, such as the prominent oil magnate Tairov from Baku, who built a summer residence here to enjoy the area’s beauty and healing properties. After the establishment of Soviet rule in Armenia, the estate was nationalized and converted into a 40-bed rest home, operating only from June to September.

The Development of the Health Resort

The “Armenia” Health Resort’s development can be divided into three main periods:

First Period (1946–1956)

The resort was recognized as a climatic health center, primarily treating functional disorders of the nervous system, such as neurasthenia and hysteria. Treatment methods included climatotherapy, physiotherapy with medical equipment, and hydrotherapy, all leveraging Vanadzor’s health-promoting environment.

Second Period (1956–1985)

During this phase, the resort was renamed the Climatic-Peat Health Center. Therapeutic peat sourced from nearby villages was introduced, significantly expanding the scope of treatments. In addition to nervous system disorders, patients with musculoskeletal conditions, peripheral nervous system issues, and chronic gynecological diseases were also treated. This era marked the transition to a peat-climatic center.

Third Period (Since 1986)

This transformative period began with the introduction of “Lori” mineral water, which was piped directly from its natural source to the resort. This addition enhanced the resort’s natural therapeutic offerings, establishing it as a climatic-balneological health center. Today, the resort’s natural therapeutic resources include the climate, mineral water, and therapeutic peat, providing comprehensive and effective treatments year-round.
